The Challenge

The requirement was to store the raw material and semi-finished goods inside their manufacturing premise close to their knitting line. Their conventional method of ground stacking possessed a serious threat to accessibility & accountability because of the scattered material occupancy on the floor and also our client was facing a challenge to meet the dispatch requirements of 30 MT per day. A storage solution to house 500 MT of material out of which 50% was allocated for RM and the remaining for SFG respectively was planned.

The Solution

Our Storage Solutions was offered to standardize the bulk goods in a custom made cage pallet designed to store the incoming RM in the form of YARN bags/Semi-finished fabrics through palletized arrangement on the G+2 Selective Pallet Racking system
The processed knitting rolls from knitting lines of various diameters, individual yarn cone boxes, and trims were provisioned to store directly on the shelving levels.
This combination of SPR and shelving storage together achieved a total of 2070 yarn bag capacity, 3375 fabric roll capacity, and shelving for 1050 boxes capacity, meeting the customer's requirement of storing and handling the 500 Tonnes of goods.

Benefits to the customer

The entire project scope of Design, Manufacturing, and erection was done under a single channel of CAL and the project was handed over within 8 weeks. The custom-made racking setup for both YARN & FABRIC offered them better selectivity and maximized the storage volume by vertical height optimization. Storing knitting rolls over the tailor-made shelving system enabled them to segregate rolls of various diameters with an improved retrieval time.
